Renter’s Requirements: The vehicle is to be operated only by the renter or any additional driver who is authorized by SUNDRIVE S.A. The renter must (a) be over 21 years of age and have a driving license issued at least one year prior to the rental agreement and (b) hold a valid national or international driving license.
Minimum Rental and Kilometer Rates: The minimum rental period is one (1) day. This period is not equivalent to 24 hours but refers to the period of time specified in the rental agreement. In the case that a mileage limit has been agreed upon, the counting of the kilometers starts and ends at the rental place.
Contract Details: The renter is obliged to drop off the car at the time, date place written on the contract. For any change the authorization of SUNDRIVE S.A is required.
Late Returns: If the vehicle is returned later than the time specified in the rental agreement, SUNDRIVE S.A. will apply extra charges or may report the vehicle as stolen.
Traffic Violations and Fines: The renter is responsible for all parking and traffic violations and will be charged for any traffic fines and administration fees.
Fuel Policy: The fuel is paid by the renter who must return the vehicle with at least the same amount of fuel as when rented. No refund or credit shall be issued if the renter returns the vehicle with more fuel than when they received it. The type of fuel used should be the one specified on the rental agreement.
State / Border Restrictions: The vehicle cannot be transported outside the island of Crete or ferried on a boat unless there is a written permission from SUNDRIVE S.A.
Off-road Driving: Driving the car on non-asphalt roads is prohibited.
Renter’s Obligations: The renter shall ensure that all reasonable care is taken when driving and parking the vehicle.
Car Accidents: Renter is responsible for reporting an accident with full details to SUNDRIVE S.A. via phone immediately. Renter must fill in and sign an accident report.
Replacement Vehicle: If the vehicle requires repair or replacement, the decision to supply another vehicle to the renter is at SUNDRIVE S.A.'s sole discretion.
Excessive Dirt: The renter shall pay for cleaning the vehicle's interior in the case the it is returned in an excessively dirty condition that requires extra cleaning or deodorizing.
Cancellation of Rental Agreement: SUNDRIVE S.A. has the right to terminate the hire and take immediate possession of the vehicle if the renter fails to comply with any of the terms mentioned on the Rental Agreement, or if the vehicle is damaged.
Optional Equipment and Car Keys: Upon request and subject to availability, SUNDRIVE S.A. offers certain Optional Equipment, including but not limited to, Child / Baby Seat and Global Positioning System (GPS) Devices with their accessories at an additional charge.
-The renter will acknowledge responsibility for any damage or loss, including theft of any Optional Equipment and the Car Keys during the rental period. The charge is €320,00 (VAT included) per unit.
-The renter has the sole responsibility of inspecting and properly installing the Child / Baby Seat.
-The renter is responsible for all injury or damage relating to the usage of the Child / Baby Seat, or any other Optional Equipment.
Lost Personal Belongings: SUNDRIVE S.A. will not uphold responsibility for any personal belongings left in the vehicle or within the office premises.
Theft Protection covers only theft of the whole vehicle:The car keys must be returned to the rental place. Theft protection does not cover any stolen / lost personal belongings or optional equipment.
Damages to the interior of the car are not covered by any insurance unless they were caused during an accident.
Fleet Availability: Reservations are always confirmed for a given Car Group, not for a specific car model. SUNDRIVE S.A. reserves the right to provide a different car model of an equivalent or higher model type to the one originally reserved.
Cancellation policy: in any case, there is no possibility for refunding any paid amount in case of cancellations. In case, that no person responsible for the renting of the respective vehicle appears, the person written on the voucher for the respective rental will be charged with the full amount of the booking rental value.After a vehicle has been picked up successfully, not any cancellation or change referring to another start rental date will be refunded.Reservation payments done last-minute, are also excluded from refunding.
V.A.T.: Local taxes and stamp duties are 24% of the total price.
The transportation of animals and pets inside of the rented cars is strictly not permitted because of hygiene and passengers with allergies have to be protected. Transportation is only permitted with an appropriate specific box, similar to those used in airplanes.In case pets or animals cause any damage inside of the car while transportation, the renter has to pay for the full replacement of the damage. The renter has also to pay a fee of 50 Euro for the cleaning of the seats of the rented car, in case that any animal hair can be detected on the seats.
Smoking is strictly forbidden inside of any rented car.
Personal Data: The company warranties that it will not transmit, disclose, convey etc. your data to third parties for any purpose or use, unless it is mandatory under applicable legislation or required by public / judicial agencies / authorities, insurance agencies, police.
Any disputes or claims that may arise will be settled in the Greek Courts of Law in Heraklion Crete.
THE FULL INSURANCE COVERS THE RENTER FOR ALL CAR DAMAGES, AS WELL FOR THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR, THE WHEELS AND GLASS.
FDW insurance includes:
- Third Party Liability: Liability waiver for damages or injuries to any third party.
- Collision Damage Waiver: Liability against damages to the rental vehicle.
- Theft and Fire Protection: Liability against theft or fire of the whole rental vehicle.
- Wheels, Undercarriage and Glass Coverage: Covers damage to wheels, tires, underside of the vehicle and glass.
FDW is a simple agreement between SUNDRIVE S.A. and the renter.
Full Damage Waiver (FDW) Insurance Exclusions:
The authorized driver will not be protected by the insurance when the rental vehicle is operated in violation of the Rental Agreement and its General Terms and Conditions. Violation includes, but not limited to:
- operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other type of intoxication.
- permitting the use of the vehicle to anyone other than authorized operators.
- permitting the use of the vehicle to anyone without a driving license.
- operating the vehicle for purposes that could be charged as a felony and for any illegal purpose.
- using the rented vehicle to tow or push anything.
- using the rented vehicle to participate in any sort of race or speed contest.
- off road driving or driving on unpaved roads.
- failure of the driver to stop or remain at the scene following the occurrence of an accident where they are required to do so by the law.
- overloading the vehicle against the manufacturer's specifications.
- Operating the rented vehicle beyond the terms of the Rental Agreement or any agreed extension of the terms.
All of the cases above constitute an infringement of the General Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement. If the renter does not comply with these rental restrictions, they will be responsible for any damage, losses, and expenses SUNDRIVE S.A. suffers as a result. SUNDRIVE S.A. will not be held responsible for anyone violating the General Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement and the insurance coverage. The renter will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) covers the driver of the vehicle during the rental period in case of death, total or partial disability due to car accident. PAI is an optional insurance, and it is available for an additional fee of €10,00 (VAT included) per day.
